Both presenting at a medical research conference in Bangalore. Arjun's talk was on coral reef microbiomes. Meera's was on neonatal care. They bonded over idli at the hotel breakfast buffet and argued about whether Chennai or Bangalore had better filter coffee. (Chennai. Obviously.)
The Andaman Trip
Meera visited Arjun's research station in Havelock Island. She saw a sea turtle for the first time, learned to snorkel badly, and realised she'd fallen for a man who talked to fish more than people. He took her to the lighthouse at sunset. Neither wanted to leave.
Meeting the Families
Arjun survived the Iyer family interrogation over a three-course South Indian dinner. Meera charmed his amma with her veena playing (she'd been secretly practising for months). Both families exchanged horoscopes. The stars agreed.
The Proposal at Marina Beach
On a quiet Tuesday evening walk along Marina Beach — their spot since the early days — Arjun stopped near the lighthouse, pulled out a ring, and asked the question he'd been rehearsing for weeks. She laughed, cried, and said yes before a crowd of evening walkers started clapping.
